Odisha is one of the prominent States in the Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts map of the country providing livelihood to the people in rural Odisha. For the socio-economic development of the weavers, farmers, artisans and craftsmen; various Central & State sponsored schemes are being implemented in providing sustainable livelihood to the above categories. Several initiatives have been taken to implement number of programmes/plans with a thrust to enhance the economic condition of the households associated in the spear of activities in Handlooms, Sericulture, Textiles and Handicraft sectors. Up-gradation of Technology, construction of Common Facilitation Centre, exposure visits, organization of Exhibitions/Expos, design interventions, publicity and providing social security to the crafts persons are some of the important initiatives taken by the state.

The major schemes of the Department are broadly classified into five such Sectors as enumerated below:
